Viral Load: Undetectable 

  • HIV treatment helps people get to an undetectable viral load. A viral load is how much HIV is in the blood. The higher the viral load, the more HIV is in the body. 

  • An undetectable viral load means there is so little HIV in the body that the virus cannot be detected by a test, and there is a low risk of spreading HIV to others. 

  • A detectable viral load means that an HIV test detects HIV viruses in the body, and there is a higher risk of spreading HIV.
