How to Reduce the Risk of HIV

Even though people who are undetectable still have the virus, lowering the amount of HIV in the body helps prevent spreading HIV to others. 

People living with HIV who take medicine exactly as prescribed and keep an undetectable viral load have a very reduced risk of spreading HIVto their HIV-negative sexual partners if they: 

• Take medication exactly as prescribed 

• Get tested regularly to check their viral load 

• Maintain an undetectable viral load
